Suggestions for Hooked On Phonics

One of the things that you MUST remember about Hooked On Phonics is that the only way that Hooked On Phonics will work for your child is if you, the parent, are personally involved with the process, almost every step of the way.

If you simply put the tape in the player, then leave the room while your child listens, it will not be of much benefit, because you are not involved.

If you are there in the room and do the activities with your child, as directed by the Hooked On Phonics materials, he or she will get much more out of the experience.

If you are going to use Hooked On Phonics and actively participate with your child while using it, then we can recommend Hooked On Phonics to you.

But if you are not going to actively participate, then we do not recommend the product. instead, we suggest that you talk to your child's teacher to get ideas about what you and your child can do together. You might also check to see if there is a Literacy Council near you where you can get help and more ideas.
